Saint Katherine College is a private, non-profit college of liberal arts and sciences focused on integrative teaching in core subjects in addition to instruction in concentration-specific requirements that is open to all students.

Distinctive integrative core courses covering key subjects and focused around different themes are offered each semester. Students are required to complete four years of Core Integration during which they will advance in critical thinking, analysis, and communication.

Scott Cairns teaches modern and contemporary American literature and creative writing. He is currently Professor of English and Director of the Creative Writing Program at the University of Missouri. Cairns has taught at numerous universities including University of North Texas, and Old Dominion University. He was awarded a Guggenheim fellowship in 2006. His poems have appeared in Poetry, The Atlantic Monthly, The Paris Review, The New Republic, Image, Spiritus, and Tiferet, and have been anthologized in Upholding Mystery (Oxford UP '96), Best Spiritual Writing (Harper Collins '98 and '00), and Best American Spiritual Writing (Houghton Mifflin, ‘04, ’05, and '06).
