Collection Development
The Saint Katherine College Library welcomes gifts of selected materials for the collections. Gifts enhance the existing collections of the Library and support the commitment of the College to excellence in research and instruction. Such gifts include manuscripts, personal research papers, datasets, letters, and other appropriate research materials. Outdated textbooks, popular books and magazines, reprints, commonly available journals, materials that duplicate what is already in the Library, and materials in poor condition are generally not accepted for the collections.
The Library encourages prospective donors, especially those interested in making sizeable donations of books, journals, and other library materials to first contact the College. In order to facilitate review, an inventory list is generally helpful. To ensure maximum accessibility to the Library’s resources, donors are asked not to request restrictions on donations. The Library reserve the right to decline an offer of material that is already held in the collections or that does not meet collection needs.
